Im Reich der Schneeverweser — Der Freitag

Der Skisport ist in Österreich nicht bloß ein nationales Anliegen, sondern das patriotische Projekt schlechthin. Viele Fans dokumentieren durch die ins Gesicht geschmierte Flagge, wem sie gehören. Die Kriegsbemalung auf der Haut zeigt an, dass die Beziehung eine biologische zu sein hat. Die tatsächliche Kleinheit des Landes wird kompensiert durch alpinen Größenwahn. Die rot-weiß-rote Überlegenheit auf Schanzen und Pisten ist aber kein Wunder, sondern Folge eines industriellen Zuchtplans. Das Bild der Idole – vor allem das der Naturburschen – ist ein televisionäres Trugbild, eine Erfindung folkloristischer Werbespots.
